Quintessence is the originator of the bestselling 960 page 1001 series. Titles include 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die - over sixteen solid reference titles and growing.
Quintessence required a new site which would streamline all their titles online.
Selected to develop a site which would allow the client full control to dynamically populate their site with all their titles; which at the time were scattered through spread sheets and multiplatform databases. A central website, which housed all the information to be easily accessible for both internal and external users.
During the build of the site recommendations were made by i3 to link directly into Amazon to create a further revenue stream. Using the Amazon API the site allows users to click through from the site to buy books from Amazon directly.
The site has a real web 2.0 feel while maintaining search engine compatibility. Designed around a way of showing the content of the series of books if offers online spreadsheet type views that can be fully customised by the user, and every entry pulls out related products on Amazon.com for the end user to buy.
The site uses custom data grid views, unusual sliding page navigation and custom Amazon searching, as well as a back end that can create whole new databases on the fly.
