Back to topThe Challenge
Flag Fen one of the most important bronze age sites in Europe, with acres of unique exhibits, visitor centres and exhibits. Run as a charity they receive thousands of visitors a year but were in need of a new site as the existing one was not under their control and run by an enthusiast of the museum.
They also needed to modernise the look and feel to pull in a younger audience and attract schools trips and groups to the visitor centre.
How we approached it
The contract of the new site was put out to tender and we only found out about it the day before the deadline, so, as we are only a couple of miles away we went and say the management of the centre and asked if they would grant us an extension. They were unsure initially but very quickly agreed once they saw the standard of our work and the flexibility of the content management system.
We did initial designs of both the map and the site but during the build we started again on the look of the site as we were unhappy with the way it was developing, The client liked the first version but was even happier with the final one.
The CMS system was put together with multiple user log ins and full media support so the client can add video and sound anywhere on the site.
The result
An attractive and fun looking site that the owner has full control over, they can add pages, sections, movies and content all from the bespoke control panel.
The site also includes dynamic galleries, events sections and new and press sections which are fully searchable for the end user and under the control of the content management system to show on the correct dates, give extended information and multiple images .
